Kick Tennis: An Overview
Kick Tennis is a game involving extreme skill and extreme endurance. It is played on a court that some people use to play "Tennis," but is known to Kick-Tennis buffs as a "Kick Tennis Court." It was made popular in 1996 by locals in Greenville, NC. A similar version of this game is traditionally popular in Malaysia, known as Malaysian Foot Tennis or Volleyball.

The Game is scored like Tennis (Love, 5, 30, 40, Game & Deuces). Each point begins with a
serve. The serve is hit from a still position on the baseline and must land in the Front Two courts. If the serve fails to land here, it is a fault. Two faults is a point for the receiving player.

The receiving player then
settles the ball, preparing to return it. The ball may bounce on the ground a limited number of times-- two or three depending on the quality of the competition -- before returning it. If it bounces too many times, the other player scores a point. The returning player returns the ball and the server now has three bounces to return it. Gameplay continues as such. It should be noted that the entire court, including the doubles lanes, are "in" and if any part of the ball lands in this area it counts as in and is the other player's first bounce.

There are a few other important rules. When settling and returning, a player may use any part of his or her body except the hands. If the ball passes the plane of the net or touches the net itself (and does not go over and land in), the ball is dead and a point is scored for the other player. If a player touches the net at any time the ball is dead and a point is scored for the other player. If the ball rolls on the ground at any point the ball is dead and the other player scores just as if it took a 4th Bounce.

Kick Tennis is fun for all athletic types and ages. Have fun and enjoy and remember, the funnest part of the game is annoying other people playing Tennis in the area who take their play-time WAY TO SERIOUSLY. There is a finite amount of joy in the world. When you annoy others, the available utils in the world is increased. And we can
all benefit from that!!
