Narrative of the Championship, by Andrew Cohen. San Jose, Ca. On June 16th the West Coast Champion received a Challenge to play in a Silver Ball Match from a challenger who is imfamous in her home state of Oregon. She is certainly worthy of such a bold move after being the first woman to beat the Cuban Champion (who's apt nickname is the Faceless Hero, as no pictures of the legend have made it out of Cuba) on his home turf.

Alissa McNair is a recent graduate of Oregon University (Captain of the UO Team) and made the voyage to San Jose to play in a Silver Ball Match. It was an intense game with a wild crowd of hippies supporting their messiah who promised to bring back the title to the Patchuli state. It must have been Andrew's day, with bay area geeks and hoochies cheering him on, because he played an amazing match, winning 4-2, sending the hairy, smelly hippie back to Eugene. The fact that McNair was spotted the night before with two men all over her, liquored up, yelling at a bartender in Spanish certainly couldn't have been helped.

This was certainly what Cohen needed after losing to William Durham by a point in kick tennis' Garden of Eden, Greenville, NC, where it all began. That match was still on the minds of fans and on Cohen himself. After ravaging through the Indian courts, Cohen intends to return to Honolulu and take another shot at his destiny.
